Alaska Bears Tour
Alaska Grizzly Bears
21/26 July 2016 - Fully Booked
26/31 July 2017 - Spaces available

I travel a lot for work, and from the number and variety of locations I have been fortunate to visit it’s hard to pick a firm favourite. But it’s no secret that if asked, the wilds of Alaska are always somewhere at the top of that list. Something about this incredible destination – the largest yet most sparsely populated of the US States and yet a world apart in so many ways – draws me back time and again.

Which is why my Alaska Grizzly Bear tour is such a firm favourite and always books out well in advance each year. Photographing the Alaskan grizzly bear is definitely a life-changing experience. The summer months for this species are all about food, with the grizzly bear’s omnivorous diet allowing them to snack not only on salmon, but also on clams dug up along the coastline, sedge grass, berries and less frequently on carrion found by the bears. With males often weighing over 600 kgs and standing at a height of up to 3 metres on their hind legs, they are certainly an impressive sight to see… And having the opportunity to literally walk amongst them as we spend time in the incredible environs of Lake Clark National Park, is an experience not to be compared with any other.

For this tour we are based out of a boutique lodge nestled on the Western Shores of Cook Inlet within the National Park. With comfortable rooms, all meals, all guiding and all activities included, all you have to do is relax and watch the bears!

Botswana Wildlife Safari
Aug & Sep 2016 - Both Fully Booked

Botswana is Southern Africa’s most prestigious safari destination: an Eden of wild and pristine landscapes that overflows with life. From the labyrinth of channels and islands of the Okavango Delta to the open savannah and woodlands of the Chobe National Park, there is unrivaled beauty and sensational game viewing.

“It is September and in a few short weeks the first rains will arrive, the wild grasses of northern Botswana will burst into life and the great herds of animals will disperse. For now though the skies are vast and open, the earth is raw, grazing is scarce and water more precious than anything else.

As wildlife is forced towards the rivers and water holes, both predator and prey are forced closer and closer together. This is the setting for the most dramatic theater on the African continent; the battle for survival. The perfect place for a wildlife photographer to be!”

Join Chris, along with Dean Fitzpatrick and the team from Wildlight Safaris, as they share this incredible location with you.

Animals photographed will include Hippo, Giraffe, Wildebeest, Waterbuck, Lion, Leopard, Wild Dogs, Hyena, Sable, Kudu, Cheetah, Elephant and hundreds of different bird species.

US$7,490 per person based on twin share accommodation

INCLUDES all National Park fees, all tented accommodation (with en-suite, bed linen and full comforts), all meals and selected beverages, charter flights, ground transfers and all guides. **Group sizes based on 3 photographers per vehicle.

EXCLUDES international airfares to Botswana (via Johannesburg), travel visas (if required), insurance, tips and personal spending.

Polar Bears Photo Tour
Norway Polar Bear Expedition
30 June to 10 July 2017 - Available

Breaking your way through immense sheets of solid frozen ice as we cruise the icy blue waters north of Norway, with the North Pole only a few hundred kilometers away and our eyes glued to the dusky horizon as we look for the mighty polar bear.

On board the M/S Freya, our floating home for ten nights, we will track and watch the polar bears as they forage the edge of the pack ice during the summer months. Polar bears, unlike their brown bear cousins, are active year-round. An adult male bear can weigh up to 700kgs and measure up to 3 meters in length making them the largest living species of land predator and a stunning subject to photograph. In fact, observing these bears in such an incredible and mesmerizing environment has definitely been one of the highlights of my photography career to date, and one I look forward to sharing with you.

Due to popular demand from a number of our regular guests, I have now secured dates in 2017 and space on board the M/S Freya for a special polar bear Photo Tour. I look forward to sharing the marvels of this natural wonder with you.

“Hi Chris, I wanted to thank you for another GREAT workshop / photo tour, Alaska was just as engaging as the TuiTai expedition. Thanks for always challenging me to be a better photographer and visual artist. It has been said that to be a better photographer, your need to put yourself in front of better subjects. Chris the subjects and locations that you chose for the workshops are simply the Best.”
