Alaska Arctic Winter

Photographing the “Northern Lights” is definitely a unique and very special experience, and one Chris hopes to share with you over many evenings as you traverse the wild and wonderful Alaskan Arctic on our Winter Photo Tour.

Departing from Fairbanks, the itinerary also features Chena Hot Springs, the Dalton Highway, Camp Coldfoot, Brooks Range, Wiseman Village, Galena and the frozen Yukon river.  You will visit some of Chris’s favourite photographic locations and experience all that winter in Alaska has to offer.  With plenty of daytime adventure along the way – from dog sled rides, the Ice Museum, an Arctic Mountain Safari and exploring the frozen Yukon river on snow mobiles, through to local cultural experiences such as a snow shoe making, visiting a local trappers cabin and spending time with the Athabascan elders – you will spend your evenings searching the starry night skies for the Aurora Borealis.

The perfect opportunity to hone your photography skills while experiencing one of the world’s last wilderness frontiers!

Alaska Grizzly Bears
25/30 July 2018

I travel a lot for work, and from the number and variety of locations I have been fortunate to visit it’s hard to pick a firm favourite. But it’s no secret that if asked, the wilds of Alaska are always somewhere at the top of that list. Something about this incredible destination – the largest yet most sparsely populated of the US States and yet a world apart in so many ways – draws me back time and again.

Which is why my Alaska Grizzly Bear tour is such a firm favourite and always books out well in advance each year.

Photographing the Alaskan grizzly bear is definitely a life-changing experience. The summer months for this species are all about food, with the grizzly bear’s omnivorous diet allowing them to snack not only on salmon, but also on clams dug up along the coastline, sedge grass, berries and less frequently on carrion found by the bears. With males often weighing up to 600 kgs and standing at a height of well over 2 metres on their hind legs, they are certainly an impressive sight to see… And having the opportunity to literally walk amongst them as we spend time in the incredible environs of Lake Clark National Park, is an experience not to be compared with any other.

Botswana Wildlight Safari
1/10 September 2018

Botswana is Southern Africa’s most prestigious safari destination: an Eden of wild and pristine landscapes that overflows with life. From the labyrinth of channels and islands of the Okavango Delta to the open savannah and woodlands of the Chobe National Park, there is unrivaled beauty and sensational game viewing.

“It is September and in a few short weeks the first rains will arrive, the wild grasses of northern Botswana will burst into life and the great herds of animals will disperse. For now though the skies are vast and open, the earth is raw, grazing is scarce and water more precious than anything else.  As wildlife is forced towards the rivers and water holes, both predator and prey are forced closer and closer together. This is the setting for the most dramatic theater on the African continent; the battle for survival. The perfect place for a wildlife photographer to be!”

Join Chris, along with Dean Fitzpatrick and the team from Wildlight Safaris, as they share this incredible location with you.

US$8,925 per person twin share

INCLUDES all National Park fees, all tented accommodation (with en-suite, bed linen and full comforts), all meals and non-alcoholic beverages, charter flights, ground transfers and all guides. **Group sizes based on 3 photographers per vehicle.

“I can’t express how much I enjoyed this trip. I’ve taken several good photography tours but never one with such a congenial group and considerate leader. I want to stick with Chris from now on. Am looking forward to receiving info on our next trip together.”
Diana Frost – USA

“Hi Chris, I wanted to thank you for another GREAT workshop / photo tour, Alaska was just as engaging as the TuiTai expedition. Thanks for always challenging me to be a better photographer and visual artist. It has been said that to be a better photographer, your need to put yourself in front of better subjects. Chris the subjects and locations that you chose for the workshops are simply the Best.”
Kevin Michael Snyder – USA

“I just wanted to drop you a note to say thanks again for organising a completely amazing trip to PNG for us.  I’ve really enjoyed reflecting back on it since getting home.  I’m also chuffed to bits with my images (thanks for the last production session we had back at Airways – it was great).”
